At the Swan in Bibury, The Cotswolds, for the first wedding fayre of the year we showcased our gorgeous new luxury floral crates which are now available to hire. They are the perfect addition to an aisle side and can then be moved and reused for going infront of the top table for the wedding breakfast, then to window or floor decor to frame your reception.

As you can see when hiring faux flower arrangements you are able to move them around if you are in different venues from the ceremony to reception thus saving money and not to mention how much more sustainable fake flowers are!

July and August tend to be months of plentiful flowers & we expect wedding flowers to be cheaper than at other times of the year, so can we get more for our money with a summer wedding? Firstly consider having seasonal flowers which are “home grown” so they don’t have import & extensive transport costs, though you still have to pay for the time of a skilled florist. But would you consider FAKING IT?

How to stretch your floral decoration budget 

Fake flowers & greenery as part of wedding flower decorations can be a clever way to cheat or extend your wedding decor budget. It could let you have larger, wilder or more extravagant installations than the budget may have otherwise have stretched to with fresh flowers.  Because fake flower arrangements or installations can be used again, they can be hired. You are only paying a proportion of the initial cost, by adding in specific colours it makes it personal to you …. and of course “buckets” of fresh foliage can be added on the day.

As with everything, the quality of fake flowers, combined with a florist eye for design and natural arrangements, makes all the difference.

Advice on using fake wedding flowers

Always go for the best quality fake flowers, especially if looking for blossom trees See them before you buy or hire- the cheapest will look cheap!

If hiring see the quality of the arrangement before committing to hire or if creating do it well in advance ( flower arranging is not as easy as it looks).

Looser, natural arrangements are more likely to fool your guests, with plenty of fresh greenery added on the day. Test fresh greenery out of water, evergreens last longer but don’t look so good for spring and summer weddings. Maybe include fresh sprigs of rosemary.

And lastly, feel slightly smug, as your wedding guests compliment your fabulous wedding flowers on your special day!

Whether you have your own furniture, or chose to hire vintage furniture, the delight of guests seeing your room outside is worth a little time and creativity. It poses a great opportunity to photograph groups of family and friends, relaxed and in casual poses. It is fun creating the seating area too.

Start with a 2 or 3 seater sofa or chaise longue and then add mixes of comfy arm chairs to carver chairs and even stools. Add a coffee table, with bowl of flowers, a few scatter cushions and throws and you have it. A perfect and fun setting!
